This course introduces M1 students of Didactics to the fundamental concepts, principles, and procedures of scientific research, mainly in the field of education. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to design, conduct, and report research in a systematic and ethical manner. The course covers the main stages of the research process—from identifying a research problem to formulating hypotheses, reviewing literature, selecting appropriate research methods, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting results. Both quantitative and qualitative research approaches are examined, with special attention given to classroom-based research and studies relevant to English language teaching and learning.

This course introduces students to the foundational principles of psycho-pedagogy—the scientific study of the psychological processes underlying teaching and learning. It explores how psychological theories inform educational practice and help teachers understand learners’ development, motivation, and behavior. Students will examine the major research methods used in educational psychology, including introspection, observation, and experimentation, and study human growth and development across different life stages. The module also introduces learning as a concept through the three major theoretical theories of Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism, highlighting how each contributes to effective teaching practices and learner-centered education.
