     This course aims to provide both teachers and students with theory and practice. To this end, students should have an idea about phonetics and its branches, phonology and its branches, the importance of studying phonetics including the orthographic inconsistencies, the standard variety of English and the like. They also need to know about the speech organs, the different sounds: consonants and vowels, and their phonemic symbols. Furthermore, teachers should teach the students the English syllable and its analysis, consonant clusters, strong and weak syllables, close front and close back vowels and syllabic consonants.The lectures include different types of practice such as repetition drills, filling in tables, labelling parts in diagrams, ...
